"A Siege on Her Heart is a sweet regency read...All the difficulties and aftermath of war were portrayed with as much tribute and grief as they deserved, while not being grotesque or overly descriptive. Everything the characters experienced was handled gracefully and yet honors the very real tragedies of San Sebastián. I love it when authors can still show grace and hope through extreme darkness in their stories without shying away from the truth of tragedy. This was immensely well done. The relationships between all the characters were well written and realistic, and I enjoyed the themes of sacrificial love and reconciliation woven between a few of side characters, not only Peter and Ana.
